- 2,600 Activity schedule represented
“The team, using BIM, developed a 4D model that allowed cost/time/resource to be tracked in a very visual way and at the touch of a screen, the progress of the job could be shared remotely on smartphones and tablets.”
London Underground's director of capital programmes
Quoted from article in Infrastructure Intelligence:
The Walthamstow Crossover is part of a wider programme of works to upgrade the Victoria Line. A critical, complex and vital upgrade to increase trains per hour from 24 to 36. The works needed to be extremely well planned and considered.
The 4D model was used as a validation and development tool for access, engineering train movements and 2,600 activities. After 4 months of working with the team, Freeform delivered a model and animation that detailed activities every 15 minutes.
Chainage spreadsheets, 2D & 3D design, train matrices, project schedules, site information and logistical arrangements were all incorporated into the model to provide the detail required to schedule the intricate works. The 4D modelling process helped reduce risk and contributedto the early completion of the project.
On a 3 week closure, the project was completed 2 days ahead of schedule.
